Rivers and Tides

I just finished watching Rivers and Tides, a film about Andy Goldsworthy, one of my favorite artists. Goldsworthy creates ephemeral art sculptures from materials found in nature. The film is amazing. Here is a clip.

More images are available from the Andy Goldsworthy Digital Catalog, the Met, Morning Earth and WebShots.

Time interviewed Goldsworthy earlier this year.

  1. Thanks, John, for introducing me to him! I imagine that his work resonates with many of your readers. Granted, he creates with materials that are available to all of us, using only his hands and very simple tools. The tangible, the visible, and human-scale. But there is a thread that connects this to the vision that finds phage and other viruses beautiful, beautiful and part of an entrancing living world.
